Lookout · A Leadership Retreat

Four days
above the noise.

See the Seattle retreat

Six leaders. A seasoned leader to learn from. A day outside. And the coaching to carry it home.

Every leader reaches a point where the view gets crowded. The calendar is full. The pressure doesn't let up. You're leading, but you're not sure you're headed where God is calling you.

Lookout is time to step back and see clearly. By invitation or application.

Two Questions

Where am I out of alignment?

Where is God calling me to lead boldly?

In how I lead myself, my team, and my organization.

Why Pastors and Executives

Two kinds of leaders. One room.

Forming healthy leaders is the heart of this work. Pastors and executives have a lot to learn from each other, and a lot to teach each other.

  • Executives bring structure and a commitment to excellence.
  • Pastors bring a shepherding, relational approach to leading people.
  • Together, both can rest, be shaped, and shape each other.

Executives and pastors, in one room. The mix is the point.

How the Week Works

Story, perspective, then commitment.

Three nights. A day with a seasoned leader, a day outside, and a morning that turns what you heard into what you will do.

  1. Tuesday
Arrive A welcome dinner with Rich, so everyone meets before the work begins. Then an opening circle.
  2. Wednesday
A day with Rich His story, an honest group conversation, and a private two-hour roundtable for the executives. The pastors spend the same afternoon in a session built for them.
  3. Thursday
Outdoors A guided day outside, chosen with the weather. Unhurried, with room to talk on the trail. The evening closes with dinner and a fireside on the failures that formed us.
  4. Friday
Coaching and commitments The Faithful Leadership framework, then peer coaching in small groups. Each leader leaves with three commitments: for himself, his team, and his organization. Done by 2:00.

Rich Stearns

Featured Leader

Rich Stearns is president emeritus of World Vision U.S., which he led for twenty years. Before World Vision, he was president of Parker Brothers Games and CEO of Lenox. In 1998, he left the corporate world to answer a call he never expected. That story became The Hole in Our Gospel. He is also the author of Unfinished and Lead Like It Matters to God.

Dr. Andrew Moroz

Your Guide and Coach

Andrew is the founder of Moroz & Company and an executive coach to faith-informed and mission-driven leaders. Since 2022, he has made more than a dozen trips to Ukraine, working alongside chaplains, pastors, and frontline leaders. He wrote his doctoral dissertation on the life and leadership of Rich Stearns, and the Faithful Leadership framework grew out of that work.

Questions

The practical details.

Why pastors and executives together?
Because each has something the other needs. Executives often bring structure and a commitment to excellence. Pastors bring a shepherding, relational way of leading people. In one room, both rest, both are shaped, and both shape each other.
Do I need to be a person of faith to take part?
No. Lookout is shaped by Christian faith, and we will talk openly about calling and about God. You don't have to share that faith to belong in the room. Leaders who are curious or open are welcome, and no one will be pressured. What we ask is honesty about your own leadership.
How does payment work?
Once you're accepted, a deposit holds your seat: $1,000 for executives, $500 for pastors, due within seven days. The balance is due December 18. You'll receive an invoice for each, and many leaders have their organization pay.
What if I need to cancel?
The deposit is non-refundable. After December 18, your seat can be transferred to another leader or to a future Lookout retreat, but it can't be refunded.
Who sees my assessment results?
Only Andrew. Rich and the cohort see only what you choose to share.
Is the outdoor day strenuous?
No. It is chosen with the weather and the group in mind, at an unhurried pace. If you have a physical limitation, tell us on the application and we'll plan around it.
