For founders and leaders

The objective is clear. The path is not.

Tell me the objective

Some objectives do not fit a method. They are specific, they matter, and there is no standard engagement that covers them.

A leader knows what they are trying to accomplish. What they do not have is a route. The work is not more information, and it is not a framework. It is thinking alongside someone who has carried something similar, and then building the thing.

A Strategic Initiative is a defined project against a complex objective.

What this is

A project with an end. Scoped before it starts.

The rest of the practice answers known questions with known methods. Formation forms leaders. Transition work carries organizations through merger, revitalization, and succession. Those have a shape before you arrive.

This is for the objective that does not have one.

What makes it a Strategic Initiative

The objective is real and specific. It crosses more than one discipline. It cannot be met by hiring one more person or reading one more book. And it has an end, so you will know whether it worked.

How it differs from a Strengthening Partnership

A Strengthening Partnership is ongoing presence inside an organization carrying real weight. A Strategic Initiative is bounded. It has a start, a scope, a deliverable, and a finish. If what you need is presence over years, that is the other one.

What these look like

One category. Many shapes.

These are patterns, not a menu. The point of a custom engagement is that your objective is yours.

01

Bringing an issue to a wider audience.

An organization is doing work that matters and carrying an issue that deserves more attention than it is getting. The gap is not conviction. It is strategy, language, and the right rooms.

Often involves: message architecture, public voice, church and partner engagement, coalition building, the sequence of who hears it and in what order.

02

Making two things work as one.

Two organizations, two programs, or two arms of the same body that need each other and keep operating separately. Not a merger. A designed relationship.

Often involves: systems and ecosystem design, naming what each side owns, the boundary that keeps both honest, and what gets reported to whom.

03

Standing something new up.

A program, an initiative, a gathering, a cohort. The idea is sound and nobody has built one before, so the first version has to be designed rather than copied.

Often involves: framing, structure, the honest economics, what gets measured, and delivering the first one alongside you.

04

A decision that has stalled.

Everyone has been circling the same question for a year. The obstacle is not capacity or information. It is that nobody has framed the decision so it can actually be made.

Often involves: naming the real question, the non-negotiables said out loud, who decides, and what is genuinely not on the table.

How it gets scoped

A conversation first. Then a written scope.

Custom work fails when nobody wrote down what it was. So the scope comes before the work, in writing, and it names an end.

First

A conversation, free.

  • Thirty minutes. The objective, what has already been tried, and what is actually in the way.
  • No proposal attached. Some of these conversations end with me pointing you somewhere else, including away from me.
Then

A written scope you approve.

  • The objective, stated in one sentence that both of us would recognize.
  • What I will do, and what you will do. Custom work with only one side named does not hold.
  • A deliverable, a timeline, and a price. Fixed scope, fixed fee.
  • What tells us it worked. Agreed before we start, not argued about after.
Then

The work, and a finish.

  • Built with you, not handed to you. The point is that your team can carry it afterward.
  • An artifact you own. Whatever form the work takes, something stays behind in writing.
  • A defined end. If it should continue, that is a new conversation and a new scope.

If your objective fits one of the named engagements, I will tell you and send you there. It will cost you less and it is better work.

This exists for the objectives that do not fit. Not as a way to describe everything.

Tell me
the objective.

Thirty unhurried minutes. What you are trying to accomplish, what has already been tried, and what is actually in the way. We will name whether this is the right size for it, and whether I am the right person.

No cost. No obligation.
